BS/MS Student Opportunities
Students are highly encouraged to attend weekly Physiology Seminars where prestigious researchers from MSU and other institutes present their research.
Students can meet with invited speakers to discuss a variety of topics including science, career, and policy questions.
Students can serve on several departmental committees.
Many research groups have weekly or biweekly journal clubs where students and faculty present and discuss research articles.
Awards are available to fund their travel to present their research at a national meeting.
Students are encouraged to become involved with the department website and the reporting of science news.
Courses and training in radiation, chemical, biological and hazardous waste safety is obtained through the Office of Research and Biological Safety (ORCBS).
Students are required to meet requirements for training in laboratory and science ethics. Also see the Graduate Program Handbook.
The APS is devoted to fostering scientific research, education, and the dissemination of scientific information. By providing a spectrum of physiological information, the APS strives to play an important role in the progress of science and the advancement of knowledge.
The Graduate School at MSU offers a variety of career training opportunies. The PREP Program provides students access to numerous career workshops. The NSF funded CAFFE Program provides opportunities for career development.
