Julienne Louters-Brock

Using an ovarian surface epithelium (OSE) specific knockout of Lkb1 and Pten in mice, Julienne is studying the early etiology of serous ovarian cancer.  She is characterizing and validating this mouse model which she then plans to use to elucidate molecular mechanisms driving the differentiation and transformation of OSE cells through RNA sequencing and tumorigenicity studies.  She will also be working on new mouse models deleting other commonly deleted genes in human serous ovarian cancer to try and again recapitulate the human disease.  This will help us better understand key mechanisms and pathways that are disrupted in serous ovarian cancer which is important for developing more specific therapies for these patients.
